I have 2¢ I’d like to throw in:  There has been much discussion lately on the Akumal Norte Owners chat about candidates who are residents, candidates who have been owners for many years, candidates who live in Akumal full time, candidates who are fairly new owners, candidates who are incumbents, and those who choose to rent their condos. Those considerations are a part of what makes a good Board member.

Two of this year’s candidates have lived in the area for many years.  They are Mexican women whose Spanish language and knowledge of the ethos of Quintana Roo are assets to the Board.  Over the years, Ingrid Datika and Mónica Estrada have cultivated numerous business and government contacts, which have been made them valued members of the Board.  Take a look at their candidate profiles to see their many contributions to the community.

Running for Vocal are the co-chairs of the Vecinos maintenance committee, George Pritchard and Mike Stone.  Mike has been here full-time since his retirement, and George is in town over half the year.  Being available in person seems like an important qualification for a maintenance committee guy.  Add that to their experience in manufacturing and construction and their contributions to Akumal Norte over the years and it’s easy to see why they merit your votes.

I choose to stop at four recommendations.  In a small town, we know and care about each other and I really don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings by leaving them out.

    Carly Flores
