Urban Image Initiative
Collaboration with Universidad La Salle to design Akumal Norte's future
In 2022, Vecinos commissioned a study of how Akumal Norte can best retain its independence and have Vecinos formally recognized as the representative of Akumal Norte with the municipal government in Tulum. One of the key findings of the study was to demonstrate Vecinos' leadership in developing and maintaining the public infrastructure and urban image of Akumal Norte. You can read about the Government Project and the study by clicking here.
In furtherance of this goal, we are excited to announce that Vecinos is collaborating with Universidad La Salle in Cancun to explore innovative design options for our electricity, water, telephone, and sewer systems as well as on design of sidewalks and bicycle paths to enhance pedestrian safety, accessibility, and aesthetics throughout Akumal Norte.
Three to four La Salle architectural students will do their theses about Akumal Norte. We will choose a winner and donate prizes (e.g., a computer) for the entrants.
Our goal is enhance the resilience and sustainability of our infrastructure and meet the evolving needs of our residents and visitors alike.
We encourage the active participation and support of Vecinos' members as we embark on this journey. To facilitate this, we have created a Community Forum on our the Vecinos website, which you can reach by clicking here. Your input, feedback, and engagement will be invaluable in shaping the success of this program and ensuring that it focuses on the greatest needs of our community.
This collaborative effort is a major step forward in our ongoing efforts to elevate the profile of North Akumal and address critical challenges facing our community.
Please use the new community forum to share your thoughts on any topic related to enhancements of our community infrastructure, including:
