Members Approve 2024-25 Budget

No Change in Member Dues

At the Annual Meeting on February 22, Vecinos Treasurer Neil Canter reported to the members on 2023 financial results and proposed a budget for 2024-25, which was unanimously approved.

2023 Results

  • Vecinos began 2023 with cash on hand of $225,000 pesos and finished with $317,000.
  • Dues revenue was $248,000 below plan, but donations were $231,000 above plan, so overall revenue was very close to budget.
  • Expenses were $411,000 below budget, mainly due to spending $225,000 less on the Government Project than planned and lower than expected expenses on roads and lights maintenance and administration.

2024 Budget

  • The new budget calls for no change in member dues rates.
  • Dues collection is assumed to be comparable to 2023 actual (less than 2023 budget).
  • Infrastructure budget was increased due to upcoming road repair work, and Community Center Building/Guardia Nacional budget was increased based on historical spending.

Change in Budget Year

  • Members approved changing Vecinos budget year from January through December to March through February to align with the timing of the annual meeting and dues invoicing.
  • As a result, the budget presented and approved covers 14 months from January 1, 2024 through February 28, 2025.
  • The budget projects $143,000 pesos cash on hand to March 1, 2025 start the 2025-26 year.
