Bylaws Changes Pass

All Proposals Win 75% or More of Vote

In the January President’s Brief, it was reported that the bylaws revisions failed to pass at the Extraordinary Meeting of December 15, 2022. The Charter Committee addressed the concerns and suggestions made and presented further revisions at an Extraordinary Meeting directly following the Annual Meeting on February 23, 2023. All proposed revisions passed with votes over the required 75 percent threshold.

These revisions were the culmination of a full year’s work by the Charter Committee along with an attorney providing advice and guidance. The revisions clarify membership status and requirements, election procedures, meeting notices, quorum, residency requirements for Board officers, and leadership transition period. They also establish a new set of internal regulations to guide the business of the Asociacion.

The project is not over yet. The Charter Committee will continue its work into 2023 and present further recommendations to the membership, if appropriate. For detailed information on the changes to the bylaws, please click here.  The full text of the bylaws as amended can be found here.
